Costco Sous Vide Egg Bites Review
I’m always looking for an insanely fast breakfast option (something that takes less than five minutes of prep time), and these sous vide egg bites from Costco fit the bill.
It took a long time for me to try them, mostly because I thought I was just over egg bites after the craze a few years ago. But these exceeded my expectations and turned me back into a stan again.
I opted for the bacon and Gouda egg bites because they honestly sounded the most appealing, but Costco also sells an egg-white version with cheese and red pepper. It’s not that I don’t love egg whites and cheese and peppers, but I’m a sucker for bacon and Gouda.

Flavor Rating
I gotta say, I was impressed by the flavor and texture of these egg bites. All in all, they tasted as good as any egg bite I’ve ever eaten. I was a little concerned when I saw them in their vacuum-sealed package; the color was a little off-putting, and it was giving sickly Victorian orphan child complexion), but when cooked in the toaster oven, they looked and tasted great.
Preparation Rating
These egg bites are super easy to prepare — no matter how you choose to do so. Pop them in the microwave for 1 minute and 45 seconds, bake them in an oven for around 15 minutes, or stick them in the air fryer for 8 to 10 minutes. Bonus: if you use the air fryer or microwave prep instructions, you’ll have one less dish to wash.
Cost Rating
I was a little off-put by the cost at first. $12.79 for Costco-brand egg bites? Especially when the Starbucks sous vide egg bites at Costco were only around $10? But at $1.28 per egg bite (or $2.56 per serving), the Costco-brand bites were still pretty cost-effective, seeing as the Starbucks’ sous vide egg bites cost $5.45 for two when you buy them in the coffee shop.
costco egg bites cooking instructions
There are three ways to cook Costco egg bites: in the microwave, the oven, or the air fryer. Because I’m not terribly cool right now, I don’t have an air fryer, and I had a feeling the egg bites wouldn’t get deliciously brown and crispy on the outside if I cooked them in the microwave, so I opted for the oven-cooking method.
And I gotta tell ya, I’m glad I did. They took a bit longer to cook (about 15 minutes as opposed to just under 2 minutes), but the active cooking time was less than 5 minutes total.
Here are the instructions for cooking Costco egg bites in the microwave, oven, and air fryer.
Costco egg bites microwave instructions
Remove the egg bites from the plastic wrapper and pop them in the microwave (on the plate you intend to eat them, because who has time to wash another dish?) on high for 1 minute and 45 seconds; let cool for 1 minute.
Costco egg bites OVEN instructions
Pre-heat the oven to 400°F, and place the egg bites on a baking sheet. Cook for up to 16 minutes (I turned mine once halfway through so they’d get nice a crispy on both sides); let cool for 1 minute.
Costco egg bites AIR FRYER instructions
Place egg bites in a 400°F oven and cook for 8 to 10 minutes; let cool for 1 minute.

I think these egg bites would taste great as the filler in an egg sandwich, but I ate them plain because they were just that good.
If you want to add a ‘lil “oomph” to your breakfast (and let’s be honest, who doesn’t need an upgrade these days?) I’d recommend cooking one and eating it between a bagel or English muffin with a few slices of bacon or a sausage patty. Or, if you want to get crazy, add a slice of tomato and romaine lettuce in there too.
